  1. Sorry for the double post. That looks a little too light in color, more AR colored than the darker beige KLH used. Is that the case?
  2. I've been searching for a while and can't find an on-line (or brick and mortar if need be) source for suitable replacement cloth for the KLH Model Five. The one owner pair I found sound wonderful but they were "modernized" with black grill cloth in the 90's. I have a source for the black undercloth, it's the beige stuff I can't find.

    EPI 100's

Can someone point me to a FR graph of these speakers? I'm measuring a pair of M60's which use the same tweeter and want to compare results.
  5. If the baffle is 3/4" mdf, how can the woofers be recessed 3/4 inch? Flush mounting the woofer (and tweeter for that matter) couldn't hurt, but I would be very surprised if the change would be audible. A coil on the woofer would probably be the most cost effective upgrade, and would definitely be audible.
  6. I agree wholeheartedly. Recap fever is epidemic. Like the tech at McIntosh told me when I asked if they recap older units that come in for repair, "We don't replace parts that aren't broken." I refoamed a pair of Smaller Advents this morning and the caps tested and sound perfect after 40 years.

    ADS PA1

    The power is 500 watts x 2.

    ads 910

I give up, this is not a viable place to discuss vintage ADS. Signing off.
  9. If it's the same 22,000 gauze unit used in the L1530, which I suspect it is, then it's 95dB.

    ADS FORUM NOOBIE

To my knowledge ADS never used foam surrounds. That's one of the things that's so great about them. The other is the high quality caps that seem to last forever. Most of the time a fuse or two will get a malfunctioning pair up and running.

    ADS L1590

My L1530s, the predecessor to the L1590 and very similar except for the cabinet design, are rated at 95dB 1 watt/1 meter, which I think is insanely efficient. I was used to 89 dB or so before I acquired these monsters. I power them with a Nak PA7II and have never seen the overload lights even flicker for an instant.
