    Driving these AR3a speakers

You will lose 3db in series, however you will now have an 8ohm load. You gain 3db for each additional speaker, so basically a wash. How loud are you trying to go? I would definitely concur on the pro amp route. Crown and Qsc will both drive a 2ohm stereo load. You would want significant headroom so as not to overtax the amp and get fan noise. I would go for about 500 a channel. Pro amps use IEC rating at 1kz. Who I will be about 10% less if converted to RMS. Hope that helps
  4. Just put a Crown K2 on my AR9s. Now they sound awesome! My Sunfire receiver will drive them-but not like the Crown. Endless power 800 a channel tight bass, and the amp never breaks a sweat!!!

    Hi-fi Myths

Thanks Kent! The snake-oil in this industry defies the imagination. This does not even account for age. As the majority of these so-call experts are the same age as me (40-50's), unless they have lived in a isolated soundless chamber all their lives, their hearing most likely does not extend past 14k! Yet, as one example, we continue to build esoteric, insane designs that extend into the realms of canines at the top register and claim we can actually hear it. However, this is what makes this industry so much fun! Measurements and science only go so far. The ultimate test is what each individual likes. And let's be honest with ourselves, the tinkering is fun! Best regards and happy listening. -Lonnie
