Restoring the KLH Model Eight

11 posts in this topic

Newest version: Posted January 8, 2015.

Please disregard the old versions in the Library. There are some inaccuracies in those (and if you find any inaccuracies in this version please let me know)

Includes info in the KLH Thirteen, too.

Thanks, Gene, for shrinking this. Sorry it's still pretty huge.

and here are hook-up instructions for the Model Thirteen

Hi Kent

I have never owned or heard a KLH radio.

I always read good things about them, outstanding sound but expensive.

You did a super job, Kent, very well done.

member Revshot just sent me a Xerox copy of the Model Thirteen instructions from the original. I'll scan the approx 10 typewritten pages and post them here. Thanks Revshot!

Here it is: The original 12-page typewritten instruction booklet for the Model Thirteen. I scanned the pages revshot sent, used OCR, then went through to correct spelling etc. The resulting document, in Courier font, looks pretty much exactly like the original. A bit long-winded, but stereo FM was new at the time.

Please let me know if you find any typos.

Here is a great place for tubes, speaker cloth, nobs etc.

http://www.tubesandmore.com/

If it doesn't matter the brand of capacitor I have always favored Vishay / Sprague "orange drops"

Thanks Trans. If you read my manual you'll see I provide a link to Antique Electronic Supply (tubesandmore.com) on page 5.

Working on a minor revision now, so any input is welcome!
