  1. What a nice bit of AR history you've got there!
  2. Fun to see a few bikes here ... I've had too many to recall over my life. I still own the BMW R75/5 I bought new in Germany in 1972 (and rode for nine straight months with my girlsfriend on the rear, sleeping in a mountaineering tent - Europe, Moroco, Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, Italy, Corfu, Greece, Cypress, Israel, Egypt, then back across Europe and the UK and a ride across Canada to home in California), plus a 1979 R100T and a 1988 R100RT (rode it 500 miles last weekend up to the very sad last Reno Air Races). Before these it was most of the British bikes, including two Triumph TT Specials, BSA Gold Star, Vincent, AJS, etc. These past three years of Pandemic plus two back surgeries have cut into my riding but I'm happy to still be able at age 77. I do find the comfort and technology of my Tesla seductive.
  3. I wonder when the change was made? My 90s (Serial #s 001752 and 001753) have no seperate switch board.
  4. Nice to bring a set back like this. Congratulations.
  5. These are lucky speakers to have found you!
  6. Nice to see the work you're doing - I'm sure you're going to enjoy these when complete. I also used just NPE caps and find that my AR-90s sound terrific (as do my AR-9s, etc., also recapped with NPEs).
  7. Here's an album with two photos re original AR-90 badges - one showing the back of the grill and the protrusion of the "pin" of the badge which is secured with a small metal push-on clip. The other photo just shows the front of the badge. These are my AR-90s. https://photos.app.goo.gl/UN7PcZeNrq1YBXZy9
  8. I'm sorry there's been communication failure here. All I ever said was that the woofers of the 90 are out of phase with the other three drivers, whereas the woofers of the 9 are in phase with the other three drivers. I then linked to drawings in the library here which show this to be the case. I never said "you are wrong" ... all I did was post information that supported what I (and others on this thread) had stated re the difference between the arrangement of the 90s and the 9s. Let's just enjoy the speakers.
  9. DavidR - Start at the "-" terminal and follow the circuit and see that it leads to the "*" (dotted) terminal on all three upper speakers. Then follow from the same "-" terminal down and see that the circuit leads directly to the woofer terminals WITHOUT the dots. Either that or we're looking at different schematic diagrams. John
  10. DavidR - not according to my experience nor the factory schematic. Here, in our library is this: AR-90 Schematic | The Classic Speaker Pages (woofers out of phase with remainder) whereas the AR-9 schematic shows: AR-9 Schematic | The Classic Speaker Pages (woofers in phase with remainder)
  11. My 90 badges measure 1-3/4" by 7/8" I favor removal of all drivers before digging into the cabinets. Check the numbers on the drivers (especially LMR) to be sure you have the correct ones. I did on my 90s but my 9s had incorrect LMR drivers (AR, but with the wrong cone material) which I replaced with the right drivers.
  12. Looking good ... at this point I'd stop and get to listening.
  13. Hi Shacky - where are you located? I have a pair of the original metal stands I'm not using. I'm in the SF Bay Area.
  14. I lived through the late '60s into the very early '80s (with a few timeouts for travel and graduate school) as an employee of Pacific Stereo, as we grew from three stores to over 100. I was a service tech, service manager, salesman, sales manager, and finally, responsible for all of Pacific's private label products, both those we bought and those we manufactured. When I was selling or sales managing, I always encouraged customers to consider AR - they were my favorites and what I had at home. But ... except on special occasions, store sales personnel made quite a bit more money selling almost anything other than AR. Pacific's salespersons' compensation was based on the gross margin of each sale PLUS spiffs (cash payments made typically on the day a sale was closed). That combination seldom encouraged selling AR. I really think the answer is as simple as that.
