LST mid problem

I need some advice please. Last year one of the mids on my LSTs started distorting. When I sent it off for repair it was front-wired. Now the same unit has come back but with plastic coated rear wiring. Is it acceptable to drill the flange to bring the wires to the front and seal the holes? Any views on this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

take look at this link http://www.classicspeakerpages.net/IP.Board/index.php?showtopic=7978 post#9 where Carl did the Mod on the replacement back wired tweeters to front wired, this may give you some idea of how to approach the mid range transfer to front wire

You certainly can do that, but why? When I restored my AR-3s I converted them to 3a's because the tweeters and one mid were shot. I replaced them with Hi-Vi tweets and AR-11 mids, both of which were back-wired. Rather than go through the trouble of making leads, drilling holes, filling the holes etc. I made the connections to the backs. If your speakers have been repaired and are working fine, why mess with them?

Just my $0.02.....

Here is a pic of a back to front wired tweeter. I made a wooden jig to hold the tweeter in place when I drilled the holes for the wire.
