Pioneer CS-66G woofer

Recommended Posts

Found these for a reasonable price today, but one woofer is frozen.

I'd like to see if I can rescue it. Any tips, other than just peeling the

surround and spider off the frame? The cone doesn't move up or down.

The voice coil is apparently not shorted; it shows about 7 ohms.

The magnet looks like it's shifted so that it's pinching the voice coil.

The glue and such looks right from the outside, though. I've adjusted

the magnet on an old AR3a woofer, but it has bolts. I'm not sure how

to move this one.

All better now.

The magnet had been knocked loose from its glue-ing. I had to pry the cone and spider from the frame, then re-glue the magnet, etc.

A lot of work for a $50 pair of speakers, but I'm a speaker conservationist :-)
