ADS speakers on that internet auction site

I think $475 for the ADS 910 Speakers sounds like a pretty good deal with the stands. He sold the stands separately! They are local pickup only and have 54 watchers currently. Someone posted the specs for the stands over on AK.

I found a pair of L-980 locally awhile back for $250 but I had to hunt up grills and tweeters. Although rare, I did find them including an extra new tweeter still in the box. The cabs were painted white however and will end up in satin black when the weather warms up :)

I have no idea if these are any good or if this is a good deal.

The ADS 910 was a big (100+ lbs), high-powered, top-of-the-line speaker when it was introduced in the 1970s. It was easily one of the best speakers on the market then, and it was highly respected and widely used in recording studios and in premium systems, and it was quite expensive even back then. In good condition, these should bring quite a lot in the used market, but the used market is fickle. The 910 was very smooth and natural-sounding, and it had excellent deep-bass output, being down only 3 dB at 28 Hz -- about on a par with the AR9, ADS 1590s and other large sealed systems. It was available for bi-amping or tri-amping, and it was later available with a special built-in 3-amp module amplifier and a special, optional, LED power-indicator (ADS 900 LPM) could be installed that would show peaks as high as 400 watts. In other words, this was a very high-end, high-performance speaker from ADS -- the best they could design at the time.

Therefore, $475 for a pair in good condition would be an excellent price, as far as I can tell!

Hmmmm, Sterling.................that's not a bad ride. But then again I need another pair of speakers like I need another winter like the one we just had.

Yeah, there are several sets of AR-90's out there at the moment I would go for first :)

I suddenly find I am $8.00 lighter after crusing into the Goodwill, and now own a pair of ADS-L520s. They looked like good jazz speakers to me, so I tried them out with Charlie Byrd. Yes, they are good jazz speakers!
