  1. Hello, effectively immediately I'm discontinuing sales of the Matsu tweeter. Thank you to all ClassicSpeakerpages members who have made past purchases.
  2. Please note as of May 2010 the Matsus will be offered only as a two pair minimum order. tnxs...
  3. Henrik from Sweden, who purchased two pair, said: Hello. I recieved the tweeters promptly and in a very good package. I am tuning them in and they sound very promising so far. Seems to be a superior replacement in Sonab OD11 and similar. Thanks /Henrik Hej. Jag fick diskanterna i utmärkt tid och bra paketerade. Spelar in dem och så här långt låter de mycket lovande. Verkar vara en utomordentlig ersättning för Sonab OD11 och liknande. Tack /Henrik
  4. Hello, I couldn't help but notice this thread while responding to a private message. I haven't mentioned this before on ClassicSpeaker pages but I supply technicians with damping compound, the real stuff used in actual driver manufacturing. I will be posting an ad in the "For Sale" section of this website within the new year for anyone who's interested.
  5. What are others saying about the Matsu tweeters? Below are a few testimonials (printed with permission) from two gentlemen who chose to update their SONAB (Swedish) loudspeakers which were originally outfitted with the Peerless MT-225 "Yes indeed those tweeters are very impressive and suit the reflective design of my Sonab OD-11’s. Occasionally I do tend to “wind up” the system and get it thumping and the tweeters handle the job excellently. Very crisp." -Simon Mason "I received the Matsu tweeters in perfect condition (beautifully packed) and delivery time was exceptional considering I live in Australia! One of the great things about these sweet sounding tweeters is that if you are a SONAB owner as I am (OD11 and OA14) you will not have to alter any of the mouldings at all. They fitted absolutely perfectly into the recess of the OD11's and once I wired them up and played a few of my favourite reference CD's I was stunned at the accuracy, the smoothness and warmth that I had realised had slowly gone missing over the years. I spend a huge amount of time recording and mixing down music in my studio for variuos artists and have done so for more than 25 years, and when I listen to music in a more recreational atmosphere (my lounge living area) I really love my SONABS. They would have to be the most natural sounding speakers I have heard to this day. Some may disagree, but thats my opinion! I can highly reccomend to anybody out there, the Matsu tweeters as replacement or better, an "upgrade", to enhance your SONABS. Well done Chris and thank you for a great choice for me." -Geoff Cross
  6. An addendum to this, and all previous posts regarding final pricing for these tweeters. The introductory price has long since expired. The current price is based upon the many pairs sold worldwide via auction and non-auction methods. As a point of interest, the offered price is set 15% less than the average of auction sale prices. The Matsus will be permanently priced at $39/pr. As mentioned, volume discounts are available. Many thank you's for reading.
  7. Pairs are still available but please keep in mind the $30/pr was an introductory price. Volume pricing is available based upon 10+ pair purchased for those wishing to resurrect and improve their SONAB speakers etc (which use several tweeter pairs per cabinet). Along with the many speaker companies which used the original Peerless, FRIED and Fulton Music Industries also used them so the Matsus would be appropriate for them as well.
  8. ADDENDUM TO: "*NEW* Vintage Matsushita Cone Tweeters (replaces Peerless CT62, MT-225)" The price should have been $30/pr.
  9. Up for sale are a pair of new Matsushita Tweeters as replacements for the Peerless MT-225 2.25" cone tweeter used in McIntosh loudspeaker models ML-1C, Ml-2C, ML-2M, ML-4C, ML-4M and ML-10C. Made in Japan, and are an improvement over the original Peerless. The Japanese knack, for taking something which already existed and improve upon it, is quite evident here. These tweeters use a larger alnico slug for better transient response over the Peerless. The Peerless MT-225 was the alnico drive predecessor to the ceramic magnet 801730 (aka CT62). Their excellent reputation is well earned. These were also used in all the collectible SONAB models, including various Electro-Voice, Dynaco, Rectilinear, ESS & many others. They are simply a *SUPERB* tweeter any way you slice them. Exceptionally smooth sounding, with an equally exceptional impedance curve (7.6ohms @ 2500hz) with response extending fully to 20khz. 8 Ohm impedance. Mounting cutouts are spaced 42mm apart on centre for adjacents and 60mm on centre diametrically. The elongated cutouts are useful for matching up to existing baffle holes (note one of the pictures which shows the Matsushita overlayed on top of the Peerless). They are a flexible install: meaning, more than one pair can be ganged per loudspeaker increasing output and dispersion. Their physical size allows very close acoustical centre placement to one another. Another bonus of these tweeters is each has a die-cut, pre-attached airseal. However, don't take my word for it. The fellows at Madisound had this to say: "This tweeter removes all doubts about using a cone tweeter in hi-fi systems. The impedance curve is nearly linear and it is therefore very easy to make crossovers for this speaker. An absolutely excellent tweeter for use in smaller hi-fi systems especially as a tweeter in satellites." I have a few pair, so if you need them for replacements or for a project this is only place you'll be able to get these as N.O.S. I can't budge on the price, which is fair at $28/pr. Postage should be very economical. If you check the link at the provided URL you'll see on average what singles of the Peerless go for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI....com:80/2600764 I don't come into this forum as often as I'd like so it'd be best to email me for more info.
