projectman Posted October 9, 2012 Report Share Posted October 9, 2012 I have a pair of APL-801 speakers from Applied Physics Laboratory and am trying to find out anything I can about them. The main question is are these any good? They have an 8" woofer and a plastic 3 1/2" square horn tweeter. I've not opened the boxes (yet). but would like to get these back into operating condition. There is a capacitor across two terminals on the back for "tweeter attenuation" - apparently so the value of the attenuation could be changed without opening the case. There is a bit of scratching sound when the cone is depressed so apparently something is making contact inside - the speaker surround looks to be in good shape but I know looks don't mean much sometimes. They sound ok, but certainly not great. Any thoughts about my next moves with these babies? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
