Guest matty g Posted January 30, 2007 Report Share Posted January 30, 2007 While refurbing a pair os 2a's I found some confusing wiring/polarity issues regarding the crossover network. The wax cap box and the woofer coil are both wired to terminal 1, which I always interpreted as common or ground. Terminal 2 and T, which I always use as the 8 ohm input, are wired directly to the drivers. Why aren't the crossover components wired to the 8 ohm input terminals as they are on the 4x and 3a systems? Does it make any difference? There is no "ground" as these are all AC circuits.Terminal 1 is "common" to the woofer and the the other drivers and it makes no difference which components are wired to the common.Some speakers have a PLUS or a RED indication and the purpose is to show driver POLARITY. (A positive signal at the RED or PLUS terminal causes the drivers to move out.)
