I have a set of A70's that have been in the family for years; unfortunately, a power surge the other day resulted in the receiver resetting to LOUD volume (long story) and the speakers are blown. The subwoofers are wrecked - foam is torn.
Is repairing these a simple matter of redoing the foam with a kit? Any recommendations on suppliers?
What are the chances that the tweeters are damaged? Is there a good way to test for this?
Thanks in advance

Only way I know to tell if tweeter is ok is to play it. I owned a pair of A70 II's for quite a few years and twice I blew the woofers. Was running a 50 watt amp and I liked bass and loud volumes. Would have better with a 100 watt amp..avoiding clipping.
It's very possible your woofers are "blown". Typically this is the result of high temp in the voice-coil, distorting it's shape. This is what happened to my woofers. You can tell when you gently 'wrap' the woofers with your wrist. If they move freely and when played, they sound good, then they are fine. If blown, while they can still play, you will usually notice a lack of bass, and when you wrap then gently with your wrist, they make a knocking sound as the voice coil hits the magnet inside, and they won't move freely. How blown a speaker is can be totally variable.
Anyhow, I would suspect the woofers are blown, so check it out.
