I recently purchased some used AR-3a drivers. The tweeters were not packed properly and the domes flattened but I was able to follow advice from this site and re-shape them to nearly their original dome shape and they seemed to work, but then as I was adding longer leads one of the wires broke off right at the little gob of orange foam that attaches to dome to the face plate. With some careful dissection I was able to cut away the foam. find the tiny wire (maybe 5mm long!) and miracle-of-miracles solder a new copper wire to the remaining fragment and the driver works!, at least with the "battery test". Now I am wondering what I should try to replace the little gob of foam with, or just count my blessings and use it as it is. New foam may strengthen my solder joint by supporting it, or may short it out and prevent me from finding the wire again. No foam and the dome may loosen or not have the proper motion. ANy suggestions?
