Below is a link to a white paper describing a technology that is getting much e-ink over at DIYaudio/multi-way speakers http://www.diyaudio....techniques.html.
http://www.positive-...andingwaves.htm
The inventor (Bud) has a patent (#5,304,746) that shows a method for applying a pattern of spots judiciously to the surface of a speaker cone that I wonder may help these classic 2-way speakers with relatively large cone to tweeter ratios wherein an 8 or 10 inch woofer is carrying some of the midrange load. Bud is freely letting others practice his idea which has generated many-many posts about how to and also discussion of results. A number of different Fostex drivers seem to have been treated. Bud claims the techology will help older speakers as newer ones have solved the standing wave problem in their inherent designs.
Check it out.
I haven't tried it.
Could EnABL technology help Advent, KLH, AR?
