Hi,

I have a pair of Wharfedale W90 speakers (sand-filled model).
I'm desperately looking for someone who has a photograph of the crossover
for these, or some know-how of the configuration.

I've been attempting to repair them for a year and have had some techs playing around with bypassing the crossover (didn't work).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I've almost given up. Wharfedale informed me that they lost this information when one of their facilities burnt several years ago.
Finding someone with some know-how is my only hope.

What a fascinating speaker. in the mid 1960's the W90 was endorsed by both The Boston Symphony, and the New York Met. I can understand the trouble you are having with the crossover. I found this thread dedicated to the Wharfedale W90D crossover they are talking about which sort of capacitor to use and even allude building a crossover from scratch. The thread is old but there are a couple of photographs of the W90 Crossover I have not been approved to join this forum yet but so I have not been able to look at them yet. The World-designs forum located in the UK seems to be heavily into vintage Wharfedale speakers.

I completed that job some time ago now for Jody. Below is a picture of the before and after rebuild of the crossover along with the schematic.

All I saved from original was the inductors, and for those I had to do some research to figure out which inductor went with which woofer bucause they are not the same. New rehostats and caps were installed along with new binding posts and wiring. Jody seem quited pleased with the results.

This is somewhat like when I pick up an unusual piece of Amateur radio gear, especially when it has been heavily modified. I have a late 1930'e 4 band receiver I can't even identify, The tubes in it are numbers, 46, 45, 44, etc.
