Good Morning all,

Not sure how many people know about this or would be interested but here it is.

I stumbled across a web site claiming to sell music files with a higher than CD resolution. The cost is comparable to what we are used to paying for a CD.

Yes, there are formats that offer higher resolution than red book CD. Much has been written and discussed about them. A simple Google search will yield many hits on the subject. SACD's also offer higher resolution than red book CD. If you are considering venturing into the realm of high res. audio formats, I suggest you try a sample or two and decide for yourself if they offer enough of a difference you can hear and appreciate. You may need to alter your system a bit to be able to handle them. Or, if you have a friend who has this capability already, visit him/her with your red book version of the same recording and compare what you bring with what he has.

OK--I'll admit I'm old, but I don't get it. Looks like $25 to $50 to download an album, and play it where? On my computer? That sure ain't hi-fi!

Or maybe you have to burn your own CD. OK, I can do that but I'm skeptical.

I signed up for the free sample and will try it out, but as I said, I'm skeptical.

Download the HD file to a computer device that is capable of being hooked up to your stereo. I don't think you could burn to a CD from a HD file. You may need special SW to do that.

Downloading to a desk top and playing thru a low cost desk top speaker system certainly isn't worth it.

This machine might be capable of accurately burning high def files onto a CD
