KLH Model 20: 4ohm power requirements
30 March 2010 - 01:56 AM
An upcoming project will be to restore and refinish a pair of KLH Model 20's which are 4ohm and require more power than their 8ohm Model 17 cousin. Would I be safe running these with a vintage Kenwood 4070 40 watt receiver?
How Common Were CTS Drivers Used in Fisher, Scott Speakers?
16 March 2010 - 04:17 AM
Hi, all,
I have a pair of H.H. Scott S-17 bookshelf speakers; nice 8" two-way sized about same as Small Advent. They use CTS woofer and tweeter. Did any other "East Coast" sound companies choose CTS besides Fisher and Scott?

Are Burhoe Acoustics Drivers High or Low Compliance?
09 March 2010 - 09:41 PM
I have the raw Burhoe Acoustics drivers(White) and will need to build cabinets. Original design called for port but was hoping they are high compliance so that I can go acoustic suspension.
Secondly, I recently visited the Allison forum here and noticed the Model 4/5 has up-firing driver with tweeter front mounted. What would the effect be (good or bad) if I mimiced that design? Trying to learn all I can before jumping in to the fire. BTW, I saw Winslow Burhoe's Direct Acoustics used sloped up-firing driver and tweeter with vented bottom.
Thanks,
Fifth Beatle

Re-cap Advice for the Lowly, Oft Forgotten AR2x
02 March 2010 - 10:22 PM
About to get my first taste of vintage AR with the AR2x two-way. Seems this model is rarely mentioned as if the black sheep of the family tag hanging over it. Woofer/tweeter terminals in back look to be in VG condition as are the drivers. Due to its age, I notice most will re-cap. This will be my first rehab project beyond the refoaming I did on some EPI A110's and Boston Acoustic A70's. What cap(s) do the 2x need? Thanks for the advice to make this a fun project.
